Who we are
This policy covers the Al-Quran Android app (package com.macwap.quran) and this website, made by Macwap (“we”, “us”). If you have any question, write to admin@macwap.com.
The short version
- You do not need an account, and we never ask for your name, email or phone number.
- The app has no advertising and no analytics or tracking code.
- Your settings, bookmarks, reading progress, favourites, tasbih counts and your prayer location are stored only on your phone.
- We do not sell, rent or share personal data with anyone.
Information the app uses

You can refuse the location permission and choose a city from the list instead; everything else in the app keeps working.
Content downloaded from the internet
To show the Quran text, translations and recitations, the app downloads them from these services when needed:
- Quran.com (api.quran.com, verses.quran.com, static.qurancdn.com)
- QuranicAudio (download.quranicaudio.com) and AlQuran Cloud (api.alquran.cloud)
- Our own content server (cdn.macwap.com)
These requests only ask for Quran content, such as “surah 2 by this reciter”. They contain no personal information. Like any website, those servers can see your device's IP address to send the content back. Once downloaded, the content stays on your phone, so later use needs no internet.
Permissions
- Internet — to download Quran text, translations and audio.
- Location — prayer times and Qibla (optional).
- Notifications, exact alarms, run at start-up, vibrate — prayer reminders and the hourly ayah, kept after the phone restarts.
- Foreground service (media playback) — the recitation keeps playing with controls on the notification and lock screen when you leave the app.
- Foreground service (data sync) — “Download all surah audio” keeps downloading in the background, showing its progress and a Cancel button.
- Wake lock — so the recitation does not stop when the screen turns off.
Sharing
When you tap Share on a verse, the app hands the text or picture to the app you choose (for example WhatsApp). Nothing is shared without your action.
Deleting your data
Because everything is stored on your phone, you are in full control. Clear the app's storage in Android Settings → Apps → Al-Quran → Storage, or uninstall the app, and all of its data is deleted. We hold no copy, so there is nothing for us to delete on our side.
Children
The app is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Security
All downloads use secure HTTPS connections. Your data never leaves your phone except as described above.
This website
quran.macwap.com is a simple information page. It sets no cookies and uses no analytics. It is served through Cloudflare, which may keep standard technical logs (such as IP address) to protect against attacks. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update it here and change the date at the top.
